I think it's a tough question really because a lot of the rest of the world only get to see the stupid annoying Americans like Bush and his cronies but there are lots of cool people in America too. Like any country there are good and bad people in it, everyone has them it's a fact of life.

I think there are large proportions of Americans who to be honest aren't very popular because all they seem to do is try to run rough shot over the rest of the world but then there are also really cool people as well who unfortunately don't own their own TV stations like the others so we don't see them as much. There seems to be a generalised view in Europe that Americans are all stupid, overweight and don't understand irony or satire but that can't be true because look at all the great comedy America has produced - The Simpsons, South Park, Saturday Night Live, Bill Hicks, Family Guy etc etc to say these people don't understand satire or irony is just crazy.

I do think America could do with changing it's foreign policy a bit and trying to become more of an partner rather than a master to other countries but that's not the general populations fault, it's the 2% in power who are milking the world and it's resources. Most of you seem to suffer just like the rest of us.

I know loads of cool Americans so no I don't hate them. I hate some of them but then I hate some of the people I know here as well. The British did all this to the world when we had the Empire so we're no angels. People should be judged individually and not by their race, nationality, religion, income, sexuality or anything else. People are just people wherever you go. Except Feeble Force people that is who are obviously cool and transcend International borders :)

I don't judge people because of their head of state. Yes, I think George W. Bush is kind of an idiot, but so is our Chancelor-ette (or whatever you call that now). That is no way to judge individual people. Sometimes I see or hear something and I'll think "dumb-ass Americans, why did they do that for?" but I have prejudices against any nationality there is on this planet, so it evens itself out. I think those generalisations are just their so you can get it off your chest easier. I mean, some stuff Germans do must look very weird from your perspective. It all comes down to the individuals. Every nation has its wankers. If you really, seriously generalise that bad against a whole nation, than *you* are the wanker in my opinion. ;)

Your going to find faults anywhere you look if you look hard enough.

I have had the luxury of living in a great deal of places, now I'm up in Massachusetts for at least another 6 month's before returning back to NY. I take no offense to this topic at all, I know how some Americans act when traveling abroad, I cringed while on vacation in Italy two years ago on the tour buses, But in there defense I have to say they just don't know, we are force feed for years about the other side and how they don't like us. Two months ago in this small town where I live now, I asked a few people one question, and your not going to believe the answers I got.

The question was: What percentage of the worlds population is America? I couldn't believe the answers I got the first week the lowest number was about 30% that would bring us at around 2.2 billion... now granted I'm in a small town in Massachusetts and I asked a guy in the connivance store across the street from my apartment complex, but over and over people gave me unbelievable answers..By the way he was the winner because he was the closest...the answer is about 4.5%

They Just don't know about the rest of the world except what they hear in the mass media( and we all know what thats like) it really is a shame. to quote one of my favorite Authors Joseph Campbell. "it is as if we are leaves that don't even realize we are part of a tree"

Don't get me wrong I'm not defending nor persecuting my fellow Americans, they just don't know whats not right in front of them. When I was living in NYC I was working 50-60 hours a week. A country could have sank into the Ocean and I may not know about it, Its a shame to live like that in a way.

Now I'm a Super Slacker in Massachusetts I Pay about $125 dollars less for my apartment than I would for a garage in Brooklyn.

In closing No one has that defense of not knowing the days of mass information...so in a way their alienation from a great portion of the World it rather is their fault.
